Each person's cancer is unique and people respond differently to the same anticancer drugs even if they have the same type of cancer. ChemoFx® is designed to help your physician see how your cancer cells respond to several different chemotherapy drugs.
Types of cancer that can be tested
ChemoFx® can be used to test over 15 types of primary, recurrent and metastatic cancer, including ovarian and breast cancer, colorectal, prostate, and lung cancer. Leukemia or lymphoma are not tested at present.
• Breast
• Ovarian
• Endometrial
• Colorectal
• Genitourinary
• Head & Neck
• Lung
• Brain
• Pancreatic
• Hepato-Biliary
Your cancer can be tested before your first treatment, but it can also be tested if you have already had treatment that has failed, if your cancer has returned, or has spread to other parts of your body. It is recommended that there be at least 4 weeks between your last chemotherapy treatment and the extraction of a tumor sample to be sent to Precision to test with ChemoFx®. Fresh tissue samples can be collected from fluid specimens (ascites, pleural fluid), core biopsies or surgical extraction.
