We are currently seeking a Medical Records Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a member of the Clinical Operations team the Medical Records Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: (Include the following: Other duties may be assigned)

  • Review pathology and/or cytology reports and extrapolate data for entry into the electronic database.
  • ICD-9 coding.
  • Verification of information fidelity in the specimen medical record and the electronic database.
  • Quality control assessment of test results.
  • Review information relating to the correlation of test results and final reports. 
  • Preparing, proofing, and releasing test results to physicians in a report format.
  • Identification and implementation of process improvements to streamline workflow and improve quality control measures.
  • Effective interaction with intra-departments to ensure all required, vital information and documentation is acquired in a timely manner. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management.
    • Certification  and/or eligible for certification RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CTR
  • Experience
    • Previous positions in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting preferred.
    • Familiarity with medical records, tumor registry and ICD-9 coding.
    • Experience with oncology, pathology and/or radiology departments.
  • Required Skills:          
    • Effective problem-solver with an ability to make sound decisions.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate.
    • Ability to follow instructions and management direction.
    • Productive – ability to consistently meet deadlines or ahead of schedule.
    • Well-developed, effective communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.
