The Opportunity:
Precision Therapeutics, Inc. assists physicians in selecting effective chemotherapeutics for their cancer patients. PTI is a personalized medicine company located in Pittsburgh PA. We are seeking a (Sr.) Scientist to join the (Biology) Research and Development Team.
The Biology R & D Team is responsible for new product and project development as well as on-going process improvements to existing clinical laboratory processes.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a successful track record in:
- Mammalian cell culture, preferably with experience in primary tissue culture
- Rapid and multiple publications in Peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Presenting to Scientific, Medical and Business audiences
- Leading technical contributions spanning various development projects, goals and initiatives
- Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals on-time while exceeding expectations
- Developing and standardizing internal group and group interface procedures
- Acting as a technical liaison between the R&D team and sales, client services, marketing, and business development teams etc.
- Statistical methods such as DOE, SPC and/or bioequivalence.
Qualifications:
- Education requirements:
- PhD with a major focus in a chemical, physical, biological, life or clinical laboratory/medical technology science
- Preferred Post-doctoral work in a field relating to cell biology and mammalian cell culture
- Scientific Experience:
- Cell Biology
- Primary tissue culture and cell biology
- Cell-based assays
- Familiarity with automated systems for cellular imaging
- Highly developed experimental design, hypothesis generation, and data analysis skills.
- Pharmaco-genomics background a plus
- Required Skills:
- Highly motivated and quick learner
- Successful publication history, ability to lead the rapid development and publication of scientific and clinical journal publications
- Highly developed presentation development and communication skills, ability to present effectively to widely varying medical and business audiences
- Able to work independently or in small teams
- Commitment to implementing continuous process improvement programs
- Problem-solver who makes sound decisions
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Well-developed and effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools
- Overall Attitude, Aptitude, Willingness to Learn and Achievement oriented approach and desire to get the job done right, whatever that takes.
